Somerville Freight Cut-Off
Sunday, April 27th, 2025
Thanks to those who came out for this mornings history walk on the remains of the Somerville Freight Cut-Off which is now the popular Somerville Community Path. Light showers did not prevent us from having an enjoyable walk and a huge thank to Society member John Alan Roderick who shared his extensive knowledge of the history of the B&M in Somerville!
The Bemis Branch
Sunday, March 23rd, 2025
Thanks to those who came out for this mornings history walk on the remains of the Bemis Branch. Chilly March winds did not prevent us from having an enjoyable walk and we made plenty of interesting discoveries including trestle support remains, a long forgotten crossing sign, and even some iron!
The Stoneham Branch
Sunday, October 20th, 2024
Thanks to all who came out for the history walk today on the Stoneham Branch! The weather was perfect for it and we were able to view quite a few pieces of this short branch line that still exist today! The colors weren’t bad either!
